You can see that the hall was not even complete yet and it was being put to good use by the Millbury Firemen’s Assoc. This dinner was to celebrate the raising, and enjoy the fellowships formed during the building of the hall. Since then the Millbury Firemen’s Hall has been used to raise money to buy new equipment for Millbury Volunteer Fire Dept. and Lake Township Fire Dept.
The bylaws of the Millbury Volunteer Fire Dept was and still are:
“The purpose of this organization shall be to aid in providing funds for the protection of life and property against Fire and other hazards in the Village of Millbury, Ohio and surrounding territory, and acquire and maintain personal and real property to further said objective.”
The Millbury Firemen’s Ox Roast held in Sept. The Ox Roast starts out at noon with a huge parade with fire equipment from over 10 area fire dept. The parade also showcases local high school bands, cheerleaders, sports teams and even a horse drawn funeral hearse. Area businesses build floats and state politicians come from all around. The Shriner’s bring some of their units to entertain the kids as well. It’s a good old time parade, people waving and candy being thrown from floats and fire equipment.
